Anthropologist & Community Education Specialist
Background: Tania is an anthropologist in Colombia with a graduate degree in development studies from ISS, Netherlands. Her focus of research and experience has been education. As an anthropologist, Tania has been interested in understanding education and related issues from a socio-cultural perspective. She has worked with schools in marginalized areas of Bogota and been successful in involving local communities in design and implementation interactive learning programmes for children. She has also been closely involved in the creation of environmental education projects for different local groups especially for the street children of Bogota and for minority groups in the North of Colombia. Tania has always aimed to have a participatory approach for both research and project development. Tania wants to play the role of facilitator in bringing about the participation of local communities in developing education programs that address local needs.
